American rapper Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2027. Kursiv LifeStyle looks at why the artist, who has been selecting performers for the show for several years, has decided to take the stage himself.
According to the BBC, Super Bowl LXI will take place on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, near Los Angeles. The performance will mark Jay-Z’s first appearance at a Super Bowl halftime show.
The announcement came after Jay-Z held two concerts at SoFi Stadium as part of a tour marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album, «Reasonable Doubt.»
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had long wanted to see Jay-Z perform at the Super Bowl. When the league began working with Roc Nation, he suggested that the rapper perform himself whenever he felt ready.
It is worth noting that since 2019, Roc Nation, founded by Jay-Z, has been responsible for organizing the Super Bowl’s musical entertainment. Jay-Z also takes part in selecting the performers. In recent years, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and The Weeknd have taken the stage.
Following the announcement, fans began discussing whether the rapper’s wife, Beyoncé, would appear. She performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 and returned in 2016 as a special guest. However, the NFL has not confirmed who else will join Jay-Z on stage.
