Heidi Klum, a German supermodel and celebrity, has been a dedicated Halloween fan for a long time. She’s been celebrating the holiday for 25 years, making this year special by appearing as a giant replica of her own hand. Kursiv LifeStyle explores how the costume was created and why the supermodel chose this concept.

The idea for the new look emerged about a year ago. Klum wanted to take an everyday, familiar object and transform it into something «unexpected,» she told Vogue. Klum even shared the idea with her costume designer, Mike Marino, who was busy at the time with her Medusa costume. He liked the idea but asked her to put it off for another year.

This year, Marino and his team at ProRenFX made the dream come true. To ensure the costume replicated Klum’s hand, they used 3D scans of her body that Marino had on file. The artists then meticulously recreated the anatomy, including veins and muscles. They designed the costume to be striking yet functional enough for Klum to walk around in it.

The replica even featured her engagement and wedding rings, along with a small tattoo on one finger.
«I always love to do something unexpected,» Klum explained.
The «Heidiween» party took place on Oct. 31 in Manhattan. In previous years, Klum has transformed into E.T., a peacock, an earthworm and Fiona from «Shrek.» Last year, she appeared as Medusa.

After the party, Klum said she had already started thinking about another creative idea for next year’s look.
