Kazakhstan to Allocate More Than $10 Billion to National Defense
To cover all the national defense needs during the next three years, Kazakhstan is going to allocate from the state budget about $10.4 billion, the Interfax news agency reported.
The country is going to spend about $3.9 billion in 2022, $3.3 billion in 2023 and $3.1 in 2024.
«Money in the amount of $10.4 billion will be allocated with a purpose of national defense, security, and law enforcement; supporting domestic order, protecting the population and responding to possible crises during the next three years,» said the Senate (the upper chamber of the Kazakhstani parliament) in its statement concerning the state budget over 2022-2024.
Because of the pandemic, Kazakhstan decreased its defense expenditures last year. For comparison, in 2020 its military budget was about $1.1 billion, in 2021 it is $1.7 billion and in 2022 the country was initially planning to spend only about $1.8 billion.
