The Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan is willing to assist students studying abroad in transferring to Kazakhstani universities. This was reported on the ministry’s Telegram channel.
This applies to Kazakhstani students who independently enrolled in foreign universities and, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, faced the problem of leaving for their places of study.
«Most foreign universities have switched to distance learning, but some universities cannot provide distance learning services. Students who cannot leave the country to continue their studies for reasons beyond their control will be helped with transferring to Kazakhstani universities at their request,» the ministry clarified.
The format of this procedure has been simplified. Students only need to contact the virtual admissions committee of the local university. The application for the transfer is made online.
The ministry has arranged a hotline (74-16-24) which can be contacted from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
On July 28, during an online operational meeting, Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov asked the management of universities and colleges not to raise the cost of education. He also asked them to empathize with the problems of students who cannot pay for their studies on time due to the pandemic and let them pay off their debt in installments.
«According to the information we have, universities are planning to increase education costs in the new academic year. I have a request to all universities. Considering the current situation, do not raise the education cost. It’s crucial. I believe that having found the required opportunities, you will make the right decision,» the minister said.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan is resuming flights to seven countries.
