As the official website of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) reports, three representatives of Kazakhstan’s national team tested positive for COVID-19. The tests were taken right before the start of the Biathlon World Cup.
The fifth stage of the Biathlon World Cup starts today in Oberhof, Germany. Yesterday all athletes, coaches and other members of national teams were tested for COVID-19 by the local medical service.
According to the results of that test, four people tested positive, each representing teams from the Czech Republic, Norway, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Because the Kazakhstani sportsman had contact with two other team members, all three representatives from the country have been immediately isolated. As it was reported, the other two persons are not athletes.
The fifth stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof will be held from January 8 to January 10. Today both women’s and men’s races are set to start.
Among Kazakhstan’s national team for the first start of 2021 are Anastasia Kondratyeva, Elizaveta Belchenko, Sergey Sirik, Alexander Mukhin, Dastan Deldesh, Danil Beletsky, Vladislav Kireev, Lyudmila Akhatova, Galina Vishnevskaya and Darya Klimina.
