Nazarbayev Calls for Support Reforms Initiated by President Tokayev

The first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed the people of the country. The full text of the address is available on his official website elbasy.kz

According to Nazarbayev, the January events have shaken all of Kazakhstan. He believes that all these riots were aimed at destroying the country’s integrity and its very foundations.

«It’s necessary to know who stayed behind all these riots and killings. The ongoing investigation is going to provide us an answer,» said the first president of the country.

He also expressed his deep condolence to the loved ones of those who have died and wished rapid recovery for people injured during the riot.

Nazarbayev noted that currently he is in the capital of Kazakhstan and hasn’t left the country.

«President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev possesses full authority in the country. He is the chairman of the Security Council. Soon he is also going to be elected as a new chairman of the Nur Otan political party. There is no conflict or confrontation within the elite. All gossips about that are far and away from the truth. The president has suggested a new program of reforms aimed at increasing the well-being of the people. We have to support this program,» he said.

In the end, the first president of Kazakhstan wished his fellow countrymen health and prosperity.
