Dariga Nazarbayeva Quits Political Council of Nur-Otan
The name of the elder daughter of the first president of Kazakhstan, Dariga Nazarbayeva, is absent in the new cast of the Nur-Otan political party’s political council. The news came after the party’s extraordinary congress.
The party has published a list of those who have been included in the political council of Nur-Otan. The name Dariga Nazarbayeva is not on the list.
Among those who have entered the council are Nurlan Nigmatulin, chairman of the Mazhilis, the lower chamber of the parliament; Rauan Kenzhekhanuly, head of Bilim Media; Lyazzat Kaltayeva, a senator; Gennadiy Zenchenko, head of Zenckenko& K; Aysulu Erniyazova, head of the Volunteers League; Zulfiya Gabidullina, a prominent sportswoman; Marat Shibutov, a political scientist, and many others. There are 92 members of the political council in total.
The extraordinary congress of Nur-Otan was held online on Friday. No media outlets were invited.
The most noticeable event of the congress was the election of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as the new leader of the Nur-Otan party.
