Dariga Nazarbayeva hits list of the richest Kazakhstanis once again
According to Forbes Kazakhstan, Dariga Nazarbayeva is back on the list of 50 richest businessmen in Kazakhstan. The daughter of the first country’s president Nursultan Nazarbayev is ranked 13th with a fortune of $584 million.
Dariga Nazarbayeva was on the Forbes Kazakhstan List twice in 2012 and 2013. She was also ranked 13th at that time, although her fortune back then was bigger – $593 and $595 million respectively.
Nazarbayeva and her son Nurali Aliyev (26th in the rating) own Europe Plus Kazakhstan. Through this company, they also control shares in Radiocity radio station and NTK TV channel. Among other assets of mother and son are DLS Group, the management company for Region Media and A-Service Management (which owns Duman hotel in Nur-Sultan).
Another participant of the Forbes Kazakhstan List Nurbol Nazarbayev (son of Bolat Nazarbayev, younger brother of the ex-president) is ranked 41st with a fortune of $160 million. He controls Prime Capital Invest and Corporation Ush Konyr Invest and owns shares in the construction company PLS and PLS-ТМ.
The first position of the rating holds Vladimir Kim, president and non-executive director of KAZ Minerals. Another daughter of Nursultan Nazarbayev Dinara Kulibayeva and her husband Timur Kulibayev are both ranked second on the Forbes list.
As the outlet noted, the rating doesn’t include Kairat Boranbayev and Kairat Satybaldy. They have been put in custody and an investigation into their activities is underway.
Kairat Satybaldy was detained on March 13; he is accused of abuse of power and embezzlement of a huge amount of money from when he worked in Kazakhtelecom. On March 15, the authorities said that the businessman will stay in custody for at least two months.
