Kazakhstan believes that the local market might be considered a gateway to the region of Central Asia, according to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan who met with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of issues concerning cooperation in trade, economy, investment and humanitarian areas. In particular, the talks were devoted to interaction in the field of transportation and logistics.
«The two countries are close partners in terms of the Trans-Caspian International Transportation Route that plays a key role in strengthening connections between countries of the region. Kazakhstan invites its partners to consider its market as a gateway to the region of Central Asia,» the president’s press service reported.
In turn, Irakli Garibashvili expressed appreciation to President Tokayev for the opportunity to have a meeting and confirmed that Georgia is interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
«I’ve come here with an important message – we are interested in the development of the current bilateral cooperation. Moreover, we are going to expand our cooperation in new spheres. The turnover between our countries has been growing. In the first half of this year, it grew by 150%. And of course, the potential for bilateral cooperation is much bigger than we have now,» the Georgian prime minister said.
Georgia plays an important role in Kazakhstan’s oil export. This year Kazakhstan’s oil exports via Georgia may reach three million tons of oil.
