National holding of Zerde to be liquidated

The government approved the move on August 5

According to the press service of Kazakhstan’s government, the national info-communication holding Zerde will be dissolved.

In early July, the Accounts Committee for Control over Execution of the Republican Budget criticized the holding for its inefficient work. On July 15, Bagdat Musin, minister of digital development, innovations and aerospace technology, suggested the government dissolve Zerde.

Later, the ministry provided its official and more detailed position on the liquidation of the holding. The agency believes that the holding failed to solve a range of systemic issues and hasn’t succeeded as a development institute in the ICT sphere due to subjective and objective reasons. On July 20, Musin met with the holding staff where he revealed what the ministry is going to do next.

As the digital ministry noted, the upcoming transformation of Zerde will be focused on the liquidation of the corporate governance structure and won’t affect the holding’s personnel.

The government is going to use another state entity called the Center for Support of the Digital Government to substitute some functions Zerde used to implement in the past. For example, the center will provide integrated services for the entire process of digital transformation in the system of public governance. Also, it will monitor the implementation of different national programs and documents.
