According to the Primeminister.kz website, Umit Nuri Yildiz, head of the Turkish company Alarko Holding, met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov. The two sides have discussed their cooperation in the spheres of energy, railway and motor transportation, clean water and waste recycling among others.
The Turkish company said that it has qualified workers and equipment to implement a wide range of projects in Kazakhstan. In turn, Smailov noted that the country is ready to discuss any details of potential cooperation.
Kazakhstan’s pool of investment projects currently includes about 850 promising projects in various fields. Alarko Holding plans to analyze these projects and choose which ones are of interest. The company and the Ministry of Industry and infrastructural Development will discuss the topic soon.
The prime minister noted that Alarko Holding is well known in Kazakhstan thanks to big infrastructural projects. For instance, the company has worked on the Big Almaty Ring Road project in the Almaty region, which is worth $737 million.
Earlier this week, Smailov met with Aziz Çengel from another Turkish company, Gap İnşaat, which is interested in the construction of a thermal power plant in Kokshetau with a capacity of 240 Megawatts and 520 Gcal-hr. It is expected that the investor will provide part of the funds needed for the project on its own.
Alarko Holding is one of the largest construction companies in Turkey. It has been working in Kazakhstan for 30 years. Thus, the company took part in the reconstruction of Almaty International Airport, the construction of a copper plant, a bridge over the Irtys River and key roads throughout the country.
