Shymbulak, a mountain ski resort near the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, has been officially recognized as the highest ski run for night skiing in the world, according to Askhat Oralov, minister of culture and sport in Kazakhstan.

As Oralov noted, representative of Guinness World Records Sheida Subashi has registered this record while at the Talgar Pass station 3,200 meters above sea level.

«My congratulations to all people in Almaty and Kazakhstan! There are tons of beautiful places in our country, so many new records will follow in the future, I believe,» he said.

According to Oralov, Shymbulak is one of the key tourist destinations in Kazakhstan.

«This resort has great potential and we are going to work hard to fully develop this potential. Now, when a ski resort is in the world records book, we can say that this is a unique location with no hesitation,» he added.

Given that the ski resort is a popular spot for leisure in Almaty, local authorities have been trying to reduce the carbon footprint. For example, only electric cars will be allowed to get to Shymbulak starting from April 1.
