Kazakhstan’s new foreign minister chooses Russia as first foreign country to visit

New Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu is going to Russia on his first visit to a foreign country. According to Aybek Smadiyarov, the official spokesperson of the ministry, the visit will be at the invitation of the Russians.

«On April 11, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu is going to make a trip to Russia with an official visit,» Smadiayarov said during a press briefing today.

He also said that Nurtleu is planning to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Yuriy Ushakov, the Russian president’s aide for international affairs to discuss political, economic and cultural cooperation. Issues associated with a regional and international policy are also on the agenda, the official noted.

Nurtleu was appointed to the position of deputy prime minister – minister of foreign affairs on April 3. Previously, he worked in the president’s administration.
