Kaspi.kz’s decision about dividend payout drives its share price on LSE

According to the London Stock Exchange (LSE), the value of Kaspi.kz shares rose by 3.1% to $73.40 on Monday, thanks to the news about dividend payouts.

On April 17, the fintech company notified KASE that its shareholders decided to pay $1.33 per common share as dividends for the year 2022.

In March, Kaspi announced its $100-million buyback program. This is the fourth such program by Kaspi. So far, the company has managed to repurchase its shares which are worth $180 million, although it had allocated $300 million for that purpose. Experts from Jusan Invest believe that Kaspi shareholders may receive about 80% of the company’s revenue in years to come.

By now, there are 190.35 million shares of Kaspi on the market. The company has bought back 9.1 million of them. In other words, the total amount of dividend payouts may reach $252.3 million or 18.4% out of the net profit of the entire group.

In 2022, Kaspi.kz reported a 40% increase in revenue ($2.8 billion) and a 40% growth in net profit ($1.3 billion).

«The entire business ecosystem of Kaspi.kz is doing quite well. Thanks to high profitability, the company can make dividend payouts and invest in future development simultaneously,» says Murat Kastayev, head of DAMU Capital Management.

As of April 1, 2023, there were three major stakeholders of the company: Baring Vostok (28.15%), Mikhail Lomtadze (24.54%) and Vyacheslav Kim (23.34%).
