Tokayev praises Biden’s support in strengthening security in Central Asia

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated President Joe Biden of the United States on the occasion of Independence Day, which America celebrates on July 4th. In an official telegram, Tokayev also expressed his appreciation of the U.S. leader for his support.

«In his telegram, President Tokayev thanked his American counterpart for support in strengthening security and interconnectivity in Central Asia,» the press service of President Tokayev reported.

Tokayev also praised the rapid development of the Kazakh-American strategic partnership in the spheres of security, energy and investments, among others.

At the end of February 2023, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Kazakhstan. At the time, Tokayev said that Kazakhstan and the U.S. have built “good and reliable long-term relations in the spheres of security, energy, trade and investments.” He also expressed to the Secretary of State his appreciation to the United States for its permanent and solid support of the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Kazakhstan.

President Tokayev also mentioned that the U.S. is one of the biggest investors in Kazakhstan. This country accounts for $62 billion of investment in the country over the past 30 years.

In April, Kazakhstan said that it is ready to boost the export of 90 types of goods worth $800 million to the U.S.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics, the trade between Kazakhstan and the U.S. has a negative balance of $373.6 million, as Kazakhstan’s exports to the U.S. reached $1.2 billion, while imports from the U.S. amounted to $1.9 billion.
