China will assist Kazakhstan with launching the manufacturing of gondolas, towers and wings for renewable sources of energy (RSE). A new plant, which is going to be located on Kazakhstan’s soil, will possibly rely on local raw materials. This information was announced during the official visit of Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Marat Karabayev to China.
The minister visited the Nankou Industrial Park of SANY Renewable Energy where wind turbines are produced. China has promised to assist Kazakhstan in the construction of similar sites.
«The company is planning to launch similar manufacturing in Kazakhstan with a higher rate of locally produced components. In turn, the Ministry of Industry will facilitate the research of raw materials in Kazakhstan that can be used in the production of components for RSE. In addition, the two sides discussed the possibility of launching the manufacturing of more sophisticated equipment for RSE in Kazakhstan,» the ministry said in a statement.
During negotiations with the business community of China, Karabayev also brought up issues related to cooperation in a range of industries. As the minister noted, industrial production is the top priority.
«We’ve reached some success in the spheres of machine building and the mining industry. We are also developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to boost the flow of cargo from China to Europe. Our country has even implemented several big infrastructural projects with the purpose of facilitating this flow of goods,» Karabayev underlined.
According to the official, Kazakhstan and China have already implemented 57 joint projects for $16 billion, including glass manufacturing, Shandong Lovol tractors and Youtong Bus assembling. In addition, the two sides have implemented nine projects worth $500 million and want to launch 32 more projects in the mining industry, automotive industry, railway industry and the field of renewable sources of energy.
SANY Renewable Energy is one of the world leaders in terms of wind turbine manufacturing. The company also produces road construction equipment, powerful cranes, drilling machines and other heavy equipment.
In May 2023, when President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was on an official visit to the Chinese city of Xian, SANY Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Energy, the National Holding Samruk Kazyna and China Power International Holding signed a memorandum on the construction of a one-gigawatt wind power plant in the Jambyl region and a manufacturing site for RSE components and equipment.
