Kazakhstan wins silver medal at women’s team championship in Poland
The women’s team from Kazakhstan has won a silver medal at the Women’s Team Championship in Poland for the first time, according to the Kazakhstan Chess Federation (KCF).
What happened? The Kazakhstani team of female chess players won silver at the Women’s Team Championship.

19-year-old Bibisara Assaubayeva,
18-year-old Meruert Kamalidenova,
18-year-old Xenia Balabayeva,
16-year-old Alua Nurmanova,
21-year-old Assel Serikbay,
17-year-old Amina Kairbekova.
Who are the coaches? The team’s coaches are grandmasters Pavel Kotsur and Alexander Moiseenko.
«This tournament was full of tense moments and our sportswomen have proven that anything is possible. They conquered the summit and reached the final. We have no doubt that they will get a gold medal next time,» KCF said in a statement.
The chess federation also expressed its deep gratitude to Freedom Broker for its support for chess players.
The context. The Women’s Team Championship in Bydgoszcz, Poland attracted teams from Kazakhstan, China, India, Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Egypt, Germany and FIDE America.
Kazakhstan’s team took the second place in the A Group. In the quarter-final, it beat players from Germany and then France in the semifinal. In the final, the team fought against Georgian players.
As a result, the Georgian women’s team won gold, Kazakhstan silver and France bronze.
