Freedom Telecom presents new Wi-Fi technology 30 times faster than traditional systems
Freedom Telecom, a subsidiary of Freedom Holding Corp., is conducting pilot testing for Wi-Fi 7, a new technology that supports fast internet, as it plans to boost the speed of wireless internet connection by six to 30 times. Within a new Wi-Fi network, the speed of an internet connection surpasses three gigabits per second compared to 100-500 megabits per second provided by almost all Kazakhstani operators.
With high internet speed users will be able to download and transfer large amounts of data, conduct video streaming in high quality and play video games with no latency.
A new Wi-Fi network can secure more reliable connections and better performance even when overloaded. The new technology will simplify watching online video in 4K and 8K, emerging in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and expanded reality. As Wi-Fi 7 relies on multiple channels, it is very stable during its work.
Freedom Telecom decided to test the new technology in Kazakhstan on its own. Then it presented the results of this testing to the Ministry of Digital Development. Once the agency certifies the new technology, it will become available for customers in Kazakhstan.
«The technology hasn’t been certified in Kazakhstan yet. We decided to test it and show the results to our regulator. During the test on a local speedtest server, the download speed reached three gigabits per second. Thanks to such speed, you can download 4K movies in less than a minute,» СЕО Freedom Telecom Kairat Akhmetov said.
Freedom Telecom was established last year to develop wideband access to the internet and open Wi-Fi access in big cities. The company runs representative offices in Astana, Turkestan, Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Atyrau, Semey, Aktau, Almaty, Konaev and Taraz.
According to Timur Turlov, head of Freedom Holding Corp., Freedom Telecom is going to focus on the development of the 5G standard. In late December, Freedom Holding Corp. placed five-year bonds for $200 million at 11.5% to 12% per annum on the Astana International Exchange (AIX) with the help of its subsidiary Freedom Finance SPC. The holding will allocate these funds for the development of the operator.
