According to preliminary results of “Vote Abroad” exit polls, the current President of Russia Vladimir Putin has won 8% of the votes in Almaty. This is the worst result in Central Asia and one of the lowest in the world.
Along with the 8% of voters who supported Putin’s candidacy, Russian citizens in Almaty also voted for Vladislav Davankov (69%), who won many votes from those Russians who wanted to vote for anyone but Putin, while 14% of voters claimed that they had damaged their voting bulletins; 7% of the people refused to talk to researchers and comment on any questions.
In Kyrgyzstan, Putin won 35% of votes. In Uzbekistan, figures were very close: 35% in Samarkand and 36% in Tashkent.
The highest result for Putin was reported in Greece: in Athens, he won 59% of votes whereas he received just 2% in the Netherlands and 3% each in Poland, Serbia and Montenegro.
According to official data from the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC), Putin won 71.5% of Russian votes abroad compared to 17.40% for Vladislav Davankov, 2.18% for Nikolai Kharitonov and 1.99% for Leonid Slutsky. The CEC hasn’t yet published data for specific voting stations abroad.
The results of the presidential elections in Russia
According to recent data, the current President Vladimir Putin has won the elections and will claim his fifth presidential term. Authorities processed 99% of voting data and said that Putin Putin won a landslide with 87.33% of the votes. His opponents have received less than 5% of votes each: Kharitonov from the Communist Party won 4.31% of votes, Davankov from the New People political party – 3.79% and Slutsky from the LDPR party – 3.19% votes. According to official data, 74.22% of eligible voters took part in the elections.
