Sergek Group, an IT company from Kazakhstan, has won the nomination for «Best Smart Traffic Management Solution» at the Future Digital Awards for Smart Cities & IoT Innovation 2024. According to the company’s press release, Sergek presented its solutions for sustainable development and smart cities.

As CEO of Sergek Group Asset Akhmetov underlined, the company’s success in the contest proves that Kazakhstani IT solutions for smart cities are applicable worldwide. Despite competing against many well-known international companies, Sergek managed to secure second place after an American IT company won the platinum award.

«This win once again proves that IT solutions for smart cities developed in Kazakhstan are respected among major players. We are proud to promote Kazakhstan’s achievements in smart cities on the global stage. Our goal is not only to advance business interests but also to enhance the country’s image internationally,» Akhmetov said.

The annual contest consists of three categories: Internet of Things Innovation, Sustainability and Smart Cities Innovation, and Judges’ Choice. Winners are shortlisted based on several criteria, including Product Innovation, Features & Benefits, Product Partnerships, Certification & Compliance, and Future Business Prospects. The Future Digital Awards contest is organized by Juniper Research, an analytic firm specializing in high-tech markets. Over the years, various winners have included Amazon, Siemens and IBM, among others.

In December 2020, Sergek Group won the IDC Digital Transformation Awards in the Intelligent Transportation category.

In late 2022, Freedom Holding Corp. acquired a 35% stake in Sergek Group. At the time, the holding’s CEO Timur Turlov said that the company’s expertise in working with big data would enable the holding to make optimal decisions in the spheres of car loans and car insurance.

Sergek is a Kazakhstani-made system for monitoring public and traffic security. The key goal of the system is to decrease the mortality rate in road incidents and to assist police in tracking down perpetrators of administrative and other crimes committed in public places.
