Zhaslan Madiyev, minister of digital development, has invited Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram to Kazakhstan. Earlier this month, Durov was spotted in the neighboring Kyrgyzstan.

«I know that he was at Issyk-Kul. I have met with his team in person. Even though I never met with Durov himself, I was assured that he’d received my invitation. I think he will visit our country,» Madiyev said.

The official also noted that there are some ideas worth discussing with Durov, such as the launch of joint labs.

Madiyev pointed out that Telegram is a high-tech company that is going to integrate itself with companies from the blockchain and crypto industries. The company, for instance, is going to launch its new platform for blockchain apps.

Durov was spotted in Kyrgyzstan on June 13. Some Kyrgyz media outlets suggested he was invited by the country’s authorities as a potential investor in an ambitious skiing resort called Kyrgyz Courchevel. The Kaktus edition speculated that authorities hoped that his name would help them promote the project and gain the attention of more investors.

However, other sources say that it is unlikely for Durov to take part in any state-run project. They believe that the only goal of the Telegram founder’s visit to the famous lake was leisure.
