Kazakhstan wants to export eGov to Africa
National Information Technologies, JSC is going to export three program units of eGov to the Togolese Republic. The company has announced the move after signing licensing agreements with the Togo Digital Agency (Agence Togo Digital or ATD).
As the company clarified, under the contract it will transfer the showcase for services (Smart Bridge), the single platform of internet resources for public agencies and the information and analytical system Smart Data Ukimet. All of these will allow the ATD to boost the development of digital public services and promote public governance based on big data. The two sides have also agreed to share their experiences.
«These contracts have proved the readiness of Togo to cooperate with other countries to accelerate its digital transformation,» said Managing Director of the ATD Kafui Ekouhoho.
According to Dmitry Mun, acting head of the NIT, Togo is the third country where Kazakhstan is exporting its IT solutions. Last year, the country reached arrangements in the sphere of IT with Tajikistan and signed a license agreement with Sierra Leone.
«We’re glad that we have the opportunity to share our experience and we hope that our IT solutions will be helping people all over the world soon,» Mun highlighted.
Kazakhstan and Togo first discussed cooperation in the sphere of IT in November 2023, when President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of the Togolese Republic visited Kazakhstan. At Digital Almaty 2024 in February, the digital ministries of the two countries signed a memorandum on cooperation. In June 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that by 2025 Kazakhstan would be exporting IT products for $500 million.
The UN E-Government Survey has ranked Kazakhstan 28th out of 193 countries in terms of the E-government Development Index and 8th in terms of the quality of online services.
The NIT is the operator of the eGov infrastructure, artificial intelligence and the single information system for public agencies in Kazakhstan. The company serves the IT systems of central and regional state agencies.
The ATD is the state agency in Togo responsible for digitalization as well as for promoting innovations and inclusiveness. The key goal of the agency is to digitalize at least 75% of administrative procedures by 2025. To achieve this goal, the agency is actively cooperating with the private sector and other state bodies.
