According to Primeminister.kz, the official website of Kazakhstan’s prime minister, Golden Line, an Iranian shipping company, has shown interest in constructing a Kazakhstani cargo terminal in the port of Bandar Abbas on the Persian Gulf.
«Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin met with Ali Akbar Ehsani, the founder and president of Golden Line, an Iranian shipping company. According to Ehsani, the Caspian Port, the core port for his company, has recently been connected to the Iranian railway system, which means there is direct railway communication between ports on the Caspian Sea and ports on the Persian Gulf. The head of the shipping company has also proposed close cooperation in the construction of a Kazakhstani terminal in the port of Bandar Abbas,» the press service of the prime minister said in a statement.
Golden Line is a private shipping company in Iran. It is involved in the transit and export operations, loading and unloading services, storage of goods and other types of transportation and logistical services at the Caspian Port in Iran. The company is seeking ways to expand its export and transit services for goods from Kazakhstan and other Central Asian states, Russia and Azerbaijan to ports on the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean and countries in Asia and Africa.
«We have a 25-hectare land parcel for containers in the port of Bandar Abbas. Moreover, we are ready to allocate an additional 30 hectares within the port for a Kazakhstani terminal and pour our own money into the construction. We can organize a direct supply of cargo to the Caspian Port,» Ehsani said.
After the meeting, Zhumangarin invited top executives of Golden Line to take part in the first international transport and logistical forum “North-South,” which is set to be held in July in Aktau, to find potential partners in Kazakhstan.
