Digital Ministry of Kazakhstan reports no consequences from Microsoft technical outage

The global outage in Microsoft systems hasn’t affected the services of the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan. The agency made this statement amid news of technical failures at airports, airlines, banks and even the London Stock Exchange due to the Microsoft outage.

«Due to the global outage of the Microsoft operating system, which affected the operations of airports and IT services in several countries, we can reassure you that not a single outage in the operation of critical infrastructure and public IT services has been reported so far,» the ministry said.

The agency highlighted that they haven’t received any complaints and all systems are functioning as usual.

The ministry also stated that it is monitoring the situation closely.

The context: On Friday, July 19, dozens of airports, airlines, banks and even the London Stock Exchange reported technical problems following an outage in Microsoft’s system. The outage was primarily reported in the U.S. and Asia.

According to Gulf News, among the affected businesses were McDonald’s Corp., United Airlines Holdings Inc. and LSE Group, as well as various corporations in Japan, India and the U.S. Although the exact cause of the problem is still unclear, it coincides with a technical outage in Microsoft.

«Some of these problems were linked to cybersecurity software from CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. Australian AGL Energy Ltd. reported system outages due to technical failures in CrowdStrike’s software,» the agency said in a statement.

Some airlines, such as Frontier Airlines, canceled their flights for more than two hours before restoring them. In turn, Microsoft said that the outage causing chaos in air travel has been fixed.
