KeshYOU, a popular musical band from Kazakhstan, released its new clip for the track “Forever Sunday” in collaboration with Snoop Dogg, a living legend of American rap music.

In the clip, the girls from KeshYOU sing and dance in various locations in Los Angeles, riding around in a Tesla Cybertruck, while Snoop Dogg raps wearing a chapan (a traditional Kazakh garment for men) designed by Kazakhstani designer Aida Kaumenova.

In an interview with IZI MUSIC, Bayan Alaguzova, the band’s producer, revealed some details of the collaboration with Snoop. Under the contract, Snoop had the right to refuse to continue the project if he didn’t like the track or even the appearance of the Kazakhstani singers. It took three months for Snoop to record his part of the song. Partly because of this, the KeshYOU team wasn’t sure that they were communicating with Snoop’s real managers—they had no documents from the American side.

«The negotiation process took six months and three months we just waited. We were over the moon when we received his part and checked his voice. He is real professional in what he does,» Alaguzoca said.

The band and Snoop Dogg first met in his sound recording studio, Death Row Records.

«The studio was massive, about half the size of a soccer field. It’s made of bricks and has no windows. Moreover, it has a fence with barbed wire and loads of CCTV cameras. We were told not to bring water or food with us. When he was coming, his guards shouted, ‘Fifteen minutes before Snoop is here!’ He had two managers and 22 bodyguards. He was very charming and nice when we met in person. He was smoking all the time.»

To highlight the traditional Kazakh style and distinguish KeshYOU from K-pop bands, Alaguzova proposed adding a scene where the girls play the dombra (a traditional Kazakh musical instrument) and sing.

After shooting the clip, Snoop and KeshYOU gave a concert together in Milwaukee. None of the artists ruled out future collaborations.
