Turkish Tiryaki Holding will acquire 250,000 tons of grain from Kazakhstan. The arrangement was reached during a visit of the Kazakhstani delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov to Turkey, the ministry’s press service reported.

Meanwhile, Tiryaki Holding is building a plant for deep grain processing in Astana. In November 2023, Kazakhstani authorities claimed that the facility would be the first production site in the CIS capable of producing 30,000 tons of glucose, 45,000 tons of fructose, 22,000 tons of fibrin, and 110,000 tons of starch per year. The final products are expected to be exported to Canada, the U.S. and Turkey, among several other countries.

Tiryaki Agro is the leading agricultural company in Turkey specializing in processing and selling of agricultural products. The company operates in 11 countries on four continents, acquiring products and raw materials from more than 40 countries and selling in more than 50 countries. Its annual turnover exceeds $2.5 billion.

Yet another Turkish business is interested in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan. Armada Gıda wants to purchase more Kazakhstani lentils.

To keep the domestic market stable and maintain national food security, the Turkish Grain Board annually purchases around 10 million tons of various grains, mostly wheat.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture expects the 2024 wheat yield to surpass 17 million tons. The main customers for Kazakhstani grain are Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China and Italy. For instance, Kazakhstan exported 1.6 million tons of grain to Uzbekistan over the period from September 2023 to February 2024.

As Kursiv reported last week, Kazakhstan suspended its grain exports to China. Along with heavy yields, the move has resulted in a price drop for Kazakhstani grain right before the start of a new season.
