Female judoka Akmaral Nauatbek wins second gold medal for Kazakhstan at the Paralympics

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, judoka Akmaral Nauatbek won a gold medal in the final match against Sandrina Martine from France at the Paralympics in Paris.

«Akmaral Nauatbek has won at the Paralympic Games in Paris in the J2 category for 48 kilograms. In the final against French judoka Sandrina Martine, she won by ippon,» the ministry said in a statement.

In the semifinal, the 25-year-old Kazakhstani judoka also won by ippon against Cahide Eke from Turkey. In the quarterfinal, she defeated Kokila Kaushiklate, a Para athlete from India, also by ippon.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent his congratulations to Nauatbek on her victory.

«My congratulations to Akmaral Nauatbek, who won a gold medal at the Paralympic Games! Your triumph at the games has delighted all sports lovers. You demonstrated true dedication and unbreakable will in your matches against the strongest athletes. I wish you many more victories in the future!» he wrote on his account on X.

This marks the second gold medal won by Kazakhstani athletes at the Paralympics. Earlier this week, David Degtyarev took first place in powerlifting. President Tokayev congratulated him on the win, highlighting that the athlete «showed a splendid result and unshakable strength of spirit.» So far, Kazakhstan has secured four medals at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris: two gold, one silver and one bronze.
