Biometric, a Kazakhstani biometric provider for the National Bank of Kazakhstan, is expanding its reach into the international market. The startup has signed a contract with Infocom, a state-owned IT solutions developer under the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, to provide biometric identification services to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, according to an Astana Hub press release.

Under the contract, Biometric will offer a comprehensive set of technologies, including document recognition, user identification, liveness detection and facial recognition.

Alibek Narimbay, CEO and founder of Biometric, highlighted that the contract with the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan underscores the international credibility of Kazakhstani technology. Biometric was one of only three companies chosen by Kyrgyzstan to serve its financial sector, a testament to the high quality and reliability of its solutions.

Narimbay noted that this partnership opens up new opportunities for further expansion of the company’s business. Biometric already has an office in the U.S. and is exploring potential markets in Southeast Asia and Latin America. In March 2023, the startup raised $600,000 in investments to support its entry into new overseas markets. «It was more of a trial run, so to speak, to probe the venture capital market,» Narimbay explained at the time.

Founded in early 2018, Biometric specializes in biometric technologies that recognize, extract and process facial data for enrollment and identification in mobile apps, ATMs and various programs. The company serves more than 35 B2B clients and has over 100 pilot projects worldwide. Recently ranked 37th among the top 500 AI companies globally, Biometric continues to strengthen its position in the international market.

Infocom did not confirm its collaboration with the Kazakhstani startup.
