Timur Turlov is investing in Uni-Q Group, a new media project that will bring together Unico Play, an online movie theater; Unico Studio, a production center for movies and TV series primarily in the Kazakh language; and Unico Rights, a distribution company, according to a press release from Uni-Q Group.

«The group will create Kazakh-language content for the online cinema Unico Play, promote Kazakhstani movies globally and develop a professional system for distributing and commercializing entertainment content,» the company stated.

Uni-Q Group aims to reach one million active users of Unico Play per month by the end of 2026 and to release up to four movies per year, each with more than $2 million in box office receipts. The company plans to become a leader in box office sales across the CIS region by achieving this. The group is headed by Anara Zhunusova, known for her work on the TV series “Chernyi Dvor” and the movie “Prigovor.”

«Uni-Q Group’s projects are primarily targeted at a Kazakhstani audience. We aim to create content in the Kazakh language, provide professional Kazakh dubbing for foreign movies and collaborate with producers and creative teams from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. In the future, we will also work with colleagues from other Central Asian and CIS countries,» Zhunusova said.

She noted that Unico Play will be a platform where the best Kazakhstani movies and TV series are available in one place. The project has already secured financial backing from various investors and organizations. Alongside Turlov, the Dara Presidential Initiatives Foundation is also investing in the group. Total investment is expected to reach $100 million within the next three years.

«Over the past few years, Kazakhstan’s creative industry has been attracting investors’ attention due to both its creative and financial successes. As a Kazakhstan-based company, we see huge potential in the Uni-Q Group project. It has the potential to become a genuine factory for high-quality content, which our new streaming platform Freedom Media also needs. I am confident that these combined efforts will provide Kazakhstani viewers with a wealth of interesting content,» Turlov emphasized.
