Embraer deploys team to investigate air crash in Kazakhstan
Representatives of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer are on their way to Kazakhstan. They will investigate the accident alongside Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) representatives.
A delegation of the Azerbaijani State Civil Aviation Agency and AZAL representatives have already arrived in Kazakhstan. The work at the site is carried out in close cooperation with the Azerbaijani aviation authorities.
“The Ministry of Transport has established a commission to investigate the accident. Representatives of the manufacturer Embraer and Brazil’s Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) are also on their way to Kazakhstan,” Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee said in a statement.
As Kursiv.media reported yesterday, the aircraft was traveling from the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku to Grozny in Russia, carrying 62 passengers and five crew members. The flight crew members were all Azerbaijani citizens.
The accident toll reached 38, including children. The flight recorder has been recovered and all the recorded data will be included in the criminal case. Kazakhstani law enforcement authorities are going to investigate the causes of the accident.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Russian President Vladimir Putin have expressed their condolences to the relatives of those died in the crash. Click here to read more.
One of the survivors told journalists about an alleged explosion on board. Therefore, flight attendants instructed passengers to put on oxygen masks and brace for impact.
