To enhance tourist safety, every foreign visitor arriving in Kazakhstan will receive a special card with a QR code at border checkpoints or airports, according to the Polisia.kz news portal. The QR code will direct travelers to the multilingual electronic portal Safetravel.kz, which provides essential information.

The Safetravel.kz system is designed to ensure the safe movement of tourists throughout Kazakhstan. The portal offers key resources, including:

  • 102 Call the Police mobile app with an SOS function for emergency assistance.
  • Migration Information section outlining the rules for staying in the country.
  • City maps and links to popular navigation apps.
  • A list of authorized taxi services and online transport platforms.
  • Links to major mobile operators’ websites for connectivity options.
  • A step-by-step emergency response guide.
  • Contact numbers for ambulance, fire and rescue services.

The initiative will help foreign visitors travel more comfortably and securely while also promoting the country as an attractive destination for tourism and investment.

Foreign visitors are now receiving the first QR code cards at Astana International Airport. The system will eventually be implemented at all border crossings.

Notably, in 2024, Kazakhstan welcomed over 653,000 tourists aged 30 to 44, 174,000 tourists aged 25 to 29 and more than 156,000 tourists aged 45 to 49.
