Kazakhstan to use AI to generate questions for final exams

Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to be used to create questions for the Unified National Testing (UNT) — a series of final examinations in Kazakhstan — stated Nursultan Makhatov, director of the Digitalization Department at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, during a briefing at the Central Communications Service.
According to him, work on implementing five projects powered by national AI is currently underway.
«These include the AI Talapker chatbot, which will offer guidance on regulatory rules for the 2025 UNT, provide statistical information and answer questions about state-funded education enrollment,» Makhatov said.
He also added that AI will promote academic honesty during the UNT and generate tasks and questions for the tests.
Notably, in January, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science reported on the development of a Kazakh language database, which will be powered by AI. The agency believes this will help neural networks to better recognize and translate texts in Kazakh.
