According to Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev, the country is going to increase its oil exports from 68.6 million tons in 2024 to 70.5 million tons this year. This increase is anticipated against the backdrop of the implementation of the expansion projects at Tengiz, Kazakhstan’s largest oil and gas field.

«The plan is to export 70.5 million tons of oil in 2025,» he said during a briefing.

At the same time, oil production will also increase from 87.7 million tons last year to 96.2 million tons this year. The rise in production will be driven primarily by the Tengiz expansion project, which is expected to commence operations within the first six months of this year. Work is also underway at the Karachaganak field and the Caspian offshore projects Kalamkas Sea and Khazar.

In particular, the plan for 2025 is to produce 34.8 million tons of oil at Tengiz (up from 27.8 million tons in 2024), 17.9 million tons at Kashagan (up from 17.4 million tons) and 12.4 million tons at Karachaganak (up from 12.2 million tons).

As usual, the oil will mainly be exported via the pipeline run by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), the Atyrau–Samara and Atasu–Alashankou pipelines and through the port of Aktau to Baku and Makhachkala. About 57 million tons are planned for transportation through the CPC, 8.8 million tons through the Atyrau – Samara pipeline, including 1.2 million tons to be further transported via the Druzhba pipeline to Germany, 3.6 million tons via the port of Aktau, including 1.5 million tons to be sent through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline and 1 million tons via the Atasu–Alashankou pipeline.

Satkaliyev also emphasized that the risk of a Ukrainian drone attack on the Kropotkinskaya oil pump station in Russia disrupting oil transit via the CPC is minimal.

«There is no risk of a reduction in tanker loading volume. As I previously mentioned, we have taken necessary measures to pass through that oil pump station (Kropotkinskaya) in transit mode. For example, we have already purchased dopants to ensure stable supply of Kazakhstani oil. Hence, the risk is minimal,» he said.

Satkaliyev also highlighted that Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry reached out to Ukraine regarding the strike. Furthermore, CPC shareholders expressed their willingness to provide all necessary support for the repairs, which are expected to take approximately two months, the minister said.

Last week, Deputy General Director of Tengizchevroil Konilskosh Suyesinov told Kursiv.media that no drop in oil production at the Tengiz field, the largest oil field in Kazakhstan, is anticipated.
