On Feb. 27, Kursiv.media released the final issue of its business weekly in Kazakhstan, Tatyana Nikolaeva, editor-in-chief of the Kursiv newspaper, announced. Since its launch in 2002, the newspaper has published 1,073 issues and more than 10,000 pages of printed content.
“If you have been a regular reader of the newspaper, you may have noticed changes in print quality over the past several months. At the beginning of 2025, we had to switch to another print shop. These businesses are also disappearing as the space for print media continues to shrink in today’s digital world,” Nikolaeva commented.
The final issue of the newspaper had a circulation of 8,000 copies, with 1,500 of them going to regular subscribers. Ubiquitous digitalization and the COVID-19 pandemic were a heavy blow to the weekly, as readers and advertisers switched to online media resources, while distribution networks nearly disappeared. The print era has come to an end; therefore, Kursiv will be fully online so that readers can stay posted and continue enjoying high-quality content on the internet.
“We are going to continue our work as usual – just online. It’s time for the print edition of Kursiv to become part of history, leaving behind a great legacy!” Nikolaeva summed up.
The newspaper used to focus on developing sectoral journalism, allowing authors to specialize in specific topics, including IT, resources and real estate. This expertise and knowledge will not vanish and will remain an integral part of the digital version of Kursiv.media.
