The Kremlin considers Minsk a perfect location for tripartite negotiations between the presidents of Russia, Ukraine and the U.S. Moscow has also given a «positive» assessment of President Zelenskyy’s statement indicating readiness for negotiations.

These remarks were made by Dmitry Peskov, the official spokesperson for the Russian president, in response to an initiative by Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, who proposed organizing peace negotiations between Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Minsk.

«This issue has never been brought up or discussed. Of course, Minsk is the best place for us. This is our key ally and this is why it is the best place for negotiations,» Interfax reported, citing Putin’s spokesperson.

He also added that the Kremlin has a «positive» attitude toward Zelenskyy’s readiness for negotiations, which was previously mentioned by Trump.

«The point is with whom we are going to negotiate. There is still a legal ban preventing the president of Ukraine from negotiating with the Russian side. This is why, in our view, the overall trend is positive, but the nuances remain the same,» Peskov said.

Earlier this week, President Zelenskyy officially announced that he was ready for negotiations and peace. He emphasized that Ukraine wants to end the war and reset relations with the U.S. after a diplomatic setback during his meeting with Trump.

The announcement followed an official visit to the White House on Feb. 28, which ended without positive results for Ukraine. During the Oval Office meeting, top U.S. officials strongly criticized Zelenskyy, accusing him of being disrespectful and not seeking peace. In response, the Ukrainian president admitted that the negotiations had failed but expressed hope that relations between the U.S. and Ukraine could still be salvaged.
