
On March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day, acclaimed Canadian composer and pianist Steve Barakatt will perform at Astana Opera as part of his Néoréalité world tour.
The concert, conducted by Elmar Buribayev, will feature the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra, ballet company and children’s choir.
Barakatt is best known for composing the UNICEF anthem «Lullaby» and the International Anthem of the Royal Golf Clubs. As a pianist, he has performed in more than 500 concerts across five continents, and his music has been featured in major sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup and the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Ahead of his concert in Astana, Barakatt shared his thoughts on the role of women in society. Recognizing the immeasurable influence of women on future generations and society, he deliberately scheduled the concert for International Women’s Day. Barakatt expressed hope that the event will be an inspiring and uplifting experience, celebrating the beauty of music and its ability to unite people.
The composer revealed that the program will include some of his most popular compositions such as «Néoréalité,» «Flying,» «Motherland,» «Lullaby» and movements from his renowned symphony «Ad Vitam Aeternam.»
Barakatt said his inspirations come from emotions, travel and extraordinary people. Speaking about the role of music, he emphasized that it is a universal language, allowing people to express what words cannot. Through music’s storytelling power, he strives to create works that transcend time and resonate with audiences on an emotional level.
He described the Néoréalité world tour as a celebration of innovation and expanding creative horizons.
