KazMunayGas (KMG) CEO Askhat Khassenov has proposed that the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) consider investing in Kazakhstani oil and gas projects, according to the KMG press service.

A Kazakhstani delegation held talks with ADNOC CEO Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber during a working visit to the U.S. The two sides discussed prospects for partnerships in geological exploration, the petrochemical industry, energy transition and digital technologies.

Khassenov noted that KMG has successfully completed its roadshow, attracting both domestic and international investors. The company has now prepared three new geological exploration projects; they are ready for seismic exploration works.

ADNOC, founded in 1971, is a leading energy group owned by the government of Abu Dhabi. The company is ranked among the world’s largest oil and gas producers with minimal carbon emissions.

KazMunayGas previously announced plans to commence exploration at the Bereke, Shygys and Shu-Sarysu sites located in the Atyrau, Aktobe and Ulytau regions, respectively, in 2025.

The company has already completed similar work at the Mugodzhar, Berezovsky, Bolashak, Zharkyn and North Ozen fields, conducting a roadshow for 60 international companies to find partners interested in the joint implementation of these projects. In October 2024, KMG signed an agreement with China National Offshore Oil Corporation on the Zhylyoi project in the Atyrau region. Another contract with Shell and Chevron on the Mugodzhar project was signed in January 2025.
