At a recent meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Almaty, Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas announced that a process has begun to simplify the visa regime between Kazakhstan and European countries.

«Kallas announced the beginning of the procedure to conclude a visa facilitation agreement between the European Commission and Kazakhstan,» Akorda reported.

In response, Tokayev welcomed the development, emphasizing its significance for strengthening ties with Europe.

«Kazakhstan takes this news very positively, as this step opens up broad opportunities for strengthening interpersonal contacts and business ties with European states,» the president said.

Earlier media reports indicated that negotiations on a visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and EU countries are set to begin in 2025, according to Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Roman Vassilenko. He confirmed that both Kazakhstan and the EU are committed to deepening their economic partnership. He also highlighted Kazakhstan’s key role in developing the transport corridor between Europe and Asia.
