Tokayev’s focus on Almaty: Dossayev to provide semi-monthly updates

During his recent visit to Almaty, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the city’s mayor Yerbolat Dossayev to address key urban issues, including street lighting, water supply and overall municipal improvement.
«During his working visit to Almaty, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Akim (mayor) Yerbolat Dossayev and assigned several tasks, including ensuring proper street lighting at night, guaranteeing timely and sufficient water supply to residents and improving streets and residential courtyards,» presidential spokesman Ruslan Zheldibay wrote on his Telegram channel.
Tokayev also emphasized the importance of holding regular «Taza Kazakhstan» («Clean Kazakhstan») initiatives, expanding green spaces and addressing transportation issues to improve environmental sustainability.
«The akim has been instructed to enhance management efforts to restore order in the country’s largest city and strengthen its status as a financial, sports, tourism and cultural hub,» Zheldibay said. «He will report directly to the president every two weeks on progress and measures taken.»
Previously, Akorda reported that Tokayev had ordered Dossayev to ensure Almaty has high-quality street lighting by the end of 2025.
