The song «Homay» by the Ay Yola band from Bashkortostan, a republic within the Russian Federation, reached seventh place on Shazam’s Global Top 200, outperforming Lady Gaga’s hit «Abracadabra» and Kendrick Lamar‘s diss track «Not Like Us.»

The ranking is topped by «Anxiety» by rapper Doechii, recorded in 2019. The track found new life thanks to TikTok and a new version released in March. The Top 5 includes «Messy» by Lola Young, «Die With A Smile» by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, «Passo Bem Solto» by ATLXS and Alex Warren’s «Ordinary.»

The Ay Yola band, where «Ay» may be translated as «God,» «supreme force,» or «Tengri» (the all-encompassing God of Heaven in various nomadic religious beliefs), and «Yola» means «tradition,» «custom» or «rite» in the Bashkir language, debuted in 2025. The band is a trio consisting of Adel Shaikhitdinova; her father, Ruslan Shaikhitdinov (also known as Ruslan Sever) — a pioneer of nightclubs in Ufa (the capital of Bashkortostan), a resident DJ at the underground cult rave club Ptyuch in Moscow (operated until 1997) and the host of the Electroshock show on Radio Maximum — and Rinat Ramazanov, a Meritorious Artist of Bashkortostan and founder of the ethno-rock band Argymak. Ay Yola’s music is rooted in Bashkir culture. «Homay» is about a mythical bird of the same name originating from Eastern legends and fables.
