EBRD is ready to invest €2 billion in Kazakhstan

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso during his official visit to Samarkand, Uzbekistan. At the meeting, Renaud-Basso stated that the EBRD is prepared to invest €2 billion in specific projects in Kazakhstan.

«Odile Renaud-Basso presented updated information about the implementation of the green transition program. The bank is ready to invest €2 billion,» Akorda said in a statement.

In response, President Tokayev expressed his gratitude to Renaud-Basso for supporting the development of Kazakhstan’s banking sector.

According to the president’s press service, in 2024, the Kazakh government and the European Bank reached an agreement to finance 25 projects in Kazakhstan, totaling $935 million.

Tokayev arrived in Samarkand to attend the first EU-Central Asia summit. He has already met with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. During their discussions, Kazakhstan’s leader highlighted key areas — such as energy and logistics — where Kazakhstan and European countries could collaborate effectively.
