A new plant designed to produce refrigerators has been commissioned in the Turkestan region, as reported by the region’s administration. The €60 million project was implemented by Zhasyl Suyk Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian UBC Group. The new plant is now expected to manufacture up to 140,000 fridges per year.

The plant was built on the territory of the Small Industrial Park in the Sauran district. The same location was designated for the production of agricultural drones. The $5 million project, with a capacity of 600 drones per month, is going to be implemented by a big Chinese company.

Kazakhstani authorities expect about $590 million in investments in the industrial park, which will create 6,000 new jobs. There are already 11 industrial buildings in the park, with an additional 26 projects scheduled to be completed this year. Overall, 37 projects worth $262 million must be launched by the end of this year.

Along with the park in the Sauran district, there are five other industrial zones in the Turkestan region: Zhetisay, Otyrar, Arys, Karamurt and Shardara-2. As many as 84 projects worth $247 million are expected to be implemented there, including 17 projects worth $95 million scheduled to be commissioned later this year.

UBC Group is an international trading and industrial holding established in 1993. Its core business activities are related to the production and distribution of fridges and promotional products for the food and beverage industry. The company is headquartered in Ukraine and has business interests in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the U.S., Canada and Europe.
