AITAS Group, a Kazakhstani agricultural holding established in 1996, plans to build a new sausage factory in Shymkent. The plant, called AMP-Yuzhnyi, will be the largest such facility in Central Asia, according to the company. AITAS has already signed a memorandum of intent with the administration of Shymkent.

The factory will be located in the Bozaryk industrial zone. Once commissioned, it will have the capacity to produce up to 50,000 tons of products per year. Overall, the holding plans to invest about $36.1 million in the project.

«This is a very ambitious project with no peers in Central Asia. The initiative reflects our long-term strategy of transforming into a food company while also enhancing Kazakhstan’s potential in food security and export,» said Serik Tolukpayev, the founder of AITAS.

Currently, the company is working on design specifications and cost estimates. The factory is expected to reach full capacity in 2033. The project will be implemented in two stages, with two production lines capable of producing 25,000 tons of products at each stage. Once completed, the factory will create 500 jobs.

Among the assets the holding operates are Makinskaya, the largest poultry plant in Central Asia, the Ust-Kamenogorsk poultry plant (the oldest in the CIS region), the largest poultry farm in the CIS and the Almaty poultry plant Zhetysu. The holding produces poultry under the Kus&Vkus brand, along with delicacies, ready-to-cook food and sausages (under the AMP brand).

In 2024, Tolukpayev, the majority owner of the holding, was ranked 42nd in Forbes’ list of the richest businessmen in Kazakhstan, with a fortune of $217 million.
