The Gstaad Guy, a British blogger with 1.2 million subscribers, including movie and music stars, and even Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark, visited Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan. The videos he posted on his Instagram account immediately went viral. Kursiv LifeStyle decided to check out what the Gstaad Guy experienced in Kazakhstan.

A video titled «Going to Kazakhstan’s Almaty instead of Miami’s Grand Prix,» posted by the blogger, gathered more than 42,000 likes in just 12 hours, becoming one of the most popular videos on his account.

During his trip to Kazakhstan, the Gstaad Guy visited Charyn Canyon, Kolsay and Kaindy Lakes, the Shymbulak mountain ski resort, took part in hawking, ate beshbarmak (a traditional Kazakh dish) and listened to aqyns (improvisational poets in Kazakh and other Central Asian cultures). It’s worth noting that one of the pictures he posted features Nurali Aliyev, the 40-year-old son of Dariga Nazarbayeva, the oldest daughter of the country’s first president Nursultan Nazarbayev. The Gstaad Guy described Aliyev as a «friend,» and apparently, he was the one behind all that vivid experience the British blogger had in Kazakhstan.

The Gstaad Guy currently lives in the Swiss city of Gstaad, which gave him the name for his account. The blogger gained popularity by mimicking the rich and making fun of snobbism and the most recognizable characters of high society and the elite. He’s especially good at imitating the accents of graduates from expensive schools popular among businessmen’s and diplomats’ children. He also graduated from one of those schools.

That’s probably the main reason he knows Aliyev – the nephew of the ex-president also studied at prestigious universities, as did many members of the wealthy and powerful Nazarbayev family. In the end, the Gstaad Guy is a popular figure among millionaires and billionaires. So, his visit to Kazakhstan became a notable contribution to promoting the country as a tourist destination and showcasing Kazakh culture. Many Kazakhstanis have already praised the blogger in the comments under his post.

«Welcome to Kazakhstan.»

«Finally, you’ve started visiting cool places.»

«Where can I find you, dear?»

«You looked so natural in that atmosphere ☺️👏,» wrote Kazakhstani Instagram users.

Despite his successful parodies of the rich, the Gstaad Guy was born into an ordinary London family, according to open sources. He began blogging during the pandemic. He also works at Apple, as the company doesn’t mind his side passion. Some media outlets estimate the blogger’s fortune at around one million dollars.
