Kazakhstani woman tragically dies in Sharm el-Sheikh

A female Kazakhstani tourist has died in Sharm el-Sheikh, an Egyptian city on the coastal strip along the Red Sea. The incident occurred in the departure area of the local airport when a billboard fell on passengers awaiting the start of their boarding to a SCAT flight to Astana, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

As a result, one Kazakhstani citizen died on the spot.

According to the press service of the SCAT airline, two more citizens of Kazakhstan have been admitted to the hospital with injuries, and two others are staying at the hotel after receiving initial medical assistance. The tour operator is currently working on their repatriation to Kazakhstan.

The country’s consul has already called the relatives of the late tourist and assured them that all necessary assistance would be provided.

«Kazakhstan’s embassy in Egypt is keeping the situation under control,» the ministry reported.

The government of Egypt expressed its condolences, while the minister of civil aviation of the country has ordered an investigation into the incident. Authorities have already dispatched a special commission to the scene to find out how this could have even happened.
