Danone will invest €6 million in its plant in the Almaty region in 2025 and 2026 to increase annual production to 40,000 tons, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Once the plant’s modernization is complete, it will be able to expand its range of products. Moreover, the upgrade will enable the company to double export volumes to Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Mongolia, as well as enter the markets of China and the Middle East by 2027.

The plant currently produces 18,000 tons of dairy products annually, with a third of these exports destined for countries in Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Mongolia. Over the past three years, Danone has invested $2.8 million in developing the enterprise, increasing its capacity by 63%.

«We welcome Danone’s investment plans to expand production capacity, launch new lines, and modernize technological processes. The ministry is ready to provide the company with comprehensive support. I am confident that the project will strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a reliable supplier of dairy products to Asian and Middle Eastern countries,» said Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov.

The ministry has already signed a memorandum of understanding with Danone Berkut, a Kazakh subsidiary of the French company. In addition, Saparov held negotiations with Laurent Saint-Martin, France’s minister delegate for foreign trade and French nationals abroad, attached to the minister for Europe and foreign affairs, and Azamat Romazanov, director of corporate affairs for Danone Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Mongolia, on the sidelines of the Astana International Forum.

Danone is a French transnational corporation specializing in the production of food and beverages. The company operates in more than 120 countries worldwide and owns brands such as Activia, Actimel, Danissimo, Oikos, and Alpro.
