Wizz Air, a Hungarian low-cost airline, has suspended flights between Astana and Abu Dhabi since June 19, due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. However, flights from Almaty and back are still being operated.
Passengers planning to return from Abu Dhabi to Astana are offered a flight via Almaty. They can also claim refunds by contacting the Wizz Air call center or through the website wizzair.com, if this option is not suitable.
The last flight from Astana departed on June 19 at 15:45. The nearest available tickets on this route are for July 17. However, the airline clarified that flights will not resume until UAE authorities lift the current restrictions.
Due to the tense situation in the region, the company also canceled flights from Abu Dhabi to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Meanwhile, air travel through Israel and Jordan will not be restored until at least September 15.
Wizz Air advises passengers to follow updates on its website and in the mobile app, and to check emails and SMS messages. The company emphasizes that all changes are aimed at ensuring passenger safety.
The conflict between Israel and Iran escalated on June 13, although this has not prevented Kazakhstanis from traveling to the UAE. Some travel agencies also stated that traveling to the UAE remains safe, despite the conflict in the region, and confirmed continued interest in vacations in the Emirates.
