Kyrgyzstan is set to complete the second stage of construction of its ambitious Ala-Too Resort mountain ski complex by the end of 2025. The resort is expected to host 850,000 tourists annually.

According to Kg.mir24.tv, the Kyrgyz administration has transferred 3,916 hectares in the Issyk-Kul region to the Ala-Too Resort enterprise, where the largest mountain ski resort complex in Central Asia will be built.

The project encompasses three key resort zones: Jyrgalan (1,624.7 hectares), Ak-Bulak (945.9 hectares) and Boz-Uchuk (1,345 hectares). Along the way, authorities plan to build essential infrastructure, including kindergartens, social facilities and utility networks in neighboring villages.

According to the project’s design plan, Ala-Too Resort will operate as an all-season tourist destination, featuring a ski season lasting up to seven months and the capacity to accommodate up to 850,000 visitors annually. Ski trails are expected to extend up to 250 kilometers.

Kazakhstan also has ambitious plans to develop its mountain tourism sector through the Almaty Mountain Cluster, which, according to the Tourism Industry Committee under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is expected to become the largest year-round tourism project in Central Asia by 2029. Under the project’s master plan, between 300 and 700 kilometers of ski trails will be developed, and the number of ski lifts will be increased.
