
South Korea’s low-cost carrier Eastar Jet has launched direct flights from Busan to Almaty. The inaugural flight departed the second-largest city in South Korea at 6:55 p.m. local time.
The route will operate once a week on Tuesdays. The journey from Busan to Almaty takes seven hours and 50 minutes, while the return trip is about 2.5 hours shorter. The return flight is scheduled to depart Almaty today at 11:45 p.m. local time.
One-way fares start at $268. Notably, tickets are currently available only for July 15 and 22, with no dates beyond these currently open for booking. The standard fare includes 15 kilograms of checked baggage and 10 kilograms of carry-on luggage.
This marks the first-ever direct connection between Kazakhstan and Busan; previously, a transfer in Seoul was required.
Since June 6, Eastar Jet has also been operating direct flights between Almaty and Seoul, with two flights per week on Mondays and Fridays.
Meanwhile, Kursiv.media recently reported on how one can fly from Almaty to Sydney for under $500.
In April, another low-cost carrier, Air Arabia, announced direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Almaty. The first flight on this route successfully operated on June 3.
Also in April, Kazakhstan’s national carrier Air Astana announced the launch of direct flights between Almaty and Mumbai.
