On July 27, a car accident occurred on the 299th kilometer of the Almaty-Yekaterinburg highway in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan. The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 overturned, leaving two people dead and two others injured. Reportedly, the driver lost control of the vehicle.

«The driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, traveling from the Karagandy region toward Almaty, lost control of the steering and caused the vehicle to overturn,» police explained.

Several social media posts suggested that the driver may have been Gulayim, the wife of Shavkat Rakhmonov, a prominent UFC fighter from Kazakhstan. Later, the regional Department of Health confirmed that she and her son (born in 2022) were hospitalized following the crash. Their condition was assessed as moderate with no risk to their lives.

According to the department, both were in the trauma unit with closed craniocerebral injuries and cerebral contusions.

«They are now in the Shu Municipal Hospital in moderate condition. They receive treatment in line with the clinical protocols of diagnosis and treatment,» the press service said at the time.

Later today, the agency reported that the two had checked themselves out of the hospital.

«The injured individuals checked themselves out of Shu Municipal Hospital after writing a formal notice and departed for Almaty. They stated that they had no complaints regarding the medical institution,» the press service stated.

Earlier this month, Shavkat Rakhmonov posted a photo of himself on Instagram with his new car — a Mercedes-AMG G 63.
